Furniture disassembly and assembly in Al Salama, Jeddah
Dismantling and assembling beds, wardrobes and flat-pack furniture in Al Salama

Two stages that decide how a move turns out

Al Salama is a well-known residential district of Jeddah with flats, apartment blocks and houses whose residents move from time to time, buy new furniture or rearrange the old. In every case, furniture disassembly and assembly shapes the result more than any other step: a poor dismantling breaks a piece before it arrives, and an inaccurate assembly leaves a wobbling wardrobe or a squeaking bed. Between the two stages, large items travel in the truck and must arrive complete with their screws and fittings.

This page explains how we dismantle and assemble furniture in Al Salama, with special attention to two kinds of job that come up often: furniture in multi-storey apartment blocks, and flat-pack pieces that a customer has just bought and wants fitted quickly and properly. We also list common mistakes, how long things take and what you can prepare before we come.

Why furniture is dismantled before a move

  • Corridors and lifts: many blocks have doors, lifts and stairs that will not take a big wardrobe or a bed with a tall headboard.
  • Joint protection: carrying a piece assembled strains its joints and weakens them over time.
  • Truck space: flat parts pack better, so fewer trips are needed.
  • Walls and floors: large pieces scrape walls when turned in short corridors.
  • Loading speed: light parts move quickly with fewer workers.

Flat-pack furniture you have just bought

Many people buy ready-to-assemble furniture and then find it takes far longer than expected, the instruction sheet is incomplete, or some parts need tools they do not own. We assemble such pieces from the sheet or from the shape you want, and check that the parts are all there before starting. If something is missing or defective we tell you straight away so you can contact the shop before the rest is built. It helps if you send a picture of the box or the product name so we can estimate the time.

Screws and fittings: a small habit that saves hours

The biggest cause of assembly trouble is a lost screw, bolt or small connector. So each piece gets its own clear bag, labelled with its name and attached to the piece itself rather than dropped in a common box. For a big wardrobe with many joints we film or photograph the dismantling order on a phone for reference. Reassembly then follows the same sequence with no guessing, and the joints keep their strength.

Bedrooms: bed, wardrobe and dresser in the right order

We take a bedroom apart in a planned order. First what blocks movement: doors, mirrors and drawers, set aside carefully; then wardrobe and dresser frames; finally the bed. We reverse the order on assembly: bed first, since it defines the room, then the wardrobe, then dresser and mirrors. We make sure wardrobes sit level and firm so that they do not rock, and adjust the doors so they close smoothly. We warn you if the floor or ceiling is uneven, because that affects stability.

Kitchens, appliances and bathroom cabinets

Fitted kitchens and wall and base cabinets may belong to a tenant or be part of the building. We agree with you what goes and what stays, then dismantle only the units that are yours and number doors, drawers and shelves. Plumbing and electrical connections for appliances are not something we touch; where needed, bring a qualified technician to disconnect or reconnect them safely.

Children's rooms

A child's room needs a higher standard of stability and safety: bunk beds, cots with rails, tall cupboards that can topple if not fixed. We assemble them patiently and check the fastening twice, and we advise anchoring tall cabinets to the wall where appropriate. Please tell us the child's age and how the piece will be used so that we consider that in heights and positions.

Jeddah's climate and wooden and metal parts

Humidity in Jeddah affects the wood of ready-made furniture and MDF boards, especially at panel edges, and can loosen some joints. So we avoid over-tightening screws, which strips the holes, and use the right torque for each kind of fitting. On metal furniture we check joints for rust before assembling and suggest wiping metal surfaces dry afterwards.

Tables, bookcases and living-room furniture

A large dining table normally has a heavy top fixed to legs with bolts underneath, and may need two or more people to lift. We take off the legs, protect the top with foam edges, and keep each table's bolts in a bag tied to its top. For bookcases and shelving we take out horizontal boards one by one, number them from top to bottom, and mark the back of each with left and right. These marks help a great deal when boards are the same size but have different fixing holes. TV units have drawers and glass doors removed first and protected with foam.

Walls after dismantling

When wall-fixed items such as bookcases and upper cabinets come off, holes and marks remain on the wall that a landlord or building management may notice at hand-over. We remove fixings carefully and tell you about visible holes, but wall repair and painting need a separate tradesperson. It is wise to photograph the walls before and after.

How many pieces can be done in a single visit?

We cannot promise a fixed number of pieces per hour. A wardrobe of five parts is very different from one with twenty, and new furniture differs from furniture whose screws have seized after years. So estimates rest on your description and photographs. If there are many pieces we split the job into two visits or send more workers to finish the same day. Tell us which pieces have priority, such as the main bedroom or a child's bed, and we start with them.

After assembly: stability checks and hand-over

After each piece we test stability with a gentle shake and light load, open and close doors and drawers to see that they move freely, and check that no screws are missing or left over. Then we go through each piece with you to confirm that it is where you wanted it, and adjust direction or spacing if you like. These few minutes avoid calling someone back for a small adjustment.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Dismantling a piece without numbering its parts, making correct reassembly difficult.
  • Putting screws for all furniture in one bag, so sizes get mixed.
  • Using the wrong tools and damaging screw heads.
  • Over-tightening and cracking MDF boards.
  • Not checking that the floor is level before assembling a big wardrobe.
  • Forgetting to anchor tall cabinets in a child's room.

Linking assembly with moving and packing

Assembly and dismantling can be booked alone if you are only rearranging your home, or as part of a complete move. For moving, see furniture moving in Al Salamah; for the general service, disassembly and assembly in Jeddah; and for fragile pieces, packing and wrapping. Our bedroom disassembly and installation page deals with a whole room.

What affects time and cost

We do not give fixed prices here. Time and cost vary with the number and complexity of pieces, whether the furniture is new or old, the floor and the lift, whether special wrapping is needed, and whether the job is dismantling only or both dismantling and assembly. Send us a list of pieces and pictures of the largest ones so we can estimate more realistically and agree the scope before the visit.

Tools we bring and what to keep

We arrive with screwdrivers in several sizes, hex keys, ties, label bags, floor protectors, and foam and cardboard for edges. Some ready-made pieces come with special screws or fittings inside their boxes, so please keep the original packaging and accessories if you will assemble something recently bought, and do not throw away any small bag until we confirm everything is in place.

Checklist before we arrive

  • Empty wardrobes and drawers and set aside valuables.
  • Tell us the floor, the lift and the stair width.
  • Prepare a clear space to gather the dismantled parts.
  • Send a photo of any new furniture and its instruction sheet.
  • Mark where each piece goes in the new place, on paper or with tape.
  • Tell us about any old or fragile-jointed pieces.

If you are in Al Salama and need furniture dismantled or assembled, call or message us on WhatsApp with the pieces, their number and your floor, and we will fix a suitable time. Take a look at our other services in the area on the services page.

Dismantling and assembly are not just mechanical tasks; they are a matter of order, records and care. When parts are numbered, screws are kept, and pieces go back in the proper sequence, you step into your new home or tidy room knowing every piece is in place and stable, without losing a day trying to work out how it was put together.

Al Salama Assembly Service: Frequently Asked Questions

Can you assemble flat-pack furniture I have just bought?

Yes. We assemble new pieces from the instruction sheet. Tell us the product type and number of parts before the appointment so we can estimate time and tools.

Do I need a wardrobe dismantled before it goes up to a higher floor?

Most of the time yes, especially when the lift is small or the stairs are narrow. We decide at the survey from the piece and the route.

How long does it take to assemble a full bedroom?

It depends on the number and type of pieces and their condition. A survey or a precise description gives a realistic estimate; we do not promise one fixed time for every case.

Can you guarantee nothing will break during dismantling?

We work carefully with the right tools. Some old or imitation pieces have brittle joints, and we warn you before starting and agree the best method.

Do you also dismantle desks, dining tables and bookcases?

Yes. We number the parts and bag the screws exactly as we do for beds and wardrobes.

Can you repair a broken piece before assembling it?

We assemble pieces as they are. If we find a break or defect we tell you the options, but specialist carpentry repair may need another provider.
