How does an apartment move work in Jeddah? The short answer
An apartment is different from a villa: there is less space, the corridors are shorter, and you usually share a staircase or a lift with neighbours. A good move therefore depends on more than the number of movers. It depends on the order of the steps, on measuring doors and stairs before moving day, and on arranging things with the building in advance.
This page walks through each stage, what suits each apartment size, how the floor and lift change the plan, a preparation checklist you can follow, and the main factors behind the cost.
The apartment move, step by step
The practical order from the first survey to the last piece reassembled
- SurveyList the items, measure doors and stairs
- DismantleTake apart beds and large wardrobes
- WrapProtect furniture and appliances
- Load and moveSecure everything in a closed truck
- Unload and assemblePlace each piece in its room
1) Survey and sizing
We count the rooms and the large items, such as bedrooms, the majlis, wardrobes, the fridge and the washing machine, and ask about the floor, the lift, and the width of doors and stairs. If an on-site visit is not possible, a photo of each room on WhatsApp is enough for us to estimate the work.
2) Dismantling
Anything that will not leave the door in one piece gets taken apart: beds, large wardrobes and tables. It helps to keep screws and small fittings in labelled bags, one per item, so nothing goes missing at reassembly. For more detail see furniture disassembly and assembly.
3) Wrapping
Wooden surfaces, corners, mirrors and appliances are wrapped before they leave the apartment, because most scratches happen in narrow corridors and on stair turns. To compare protection options read furniture packing and wrapping.
4) Loading and transport
Heavy pieces go in first and lighter ones after, all secured so nothing shifts on the road across Jeddah. The load travels in a closed truck sized to the apartment.
5) Unloading and assembly
Pieces are carried to the right rooms in the new apartment, then beds and wardrobes are assembled and loose parts put back. It helps if you decide beforehand where each room goes and where the large pieces will stand.
Apartment move vs villa move
Elements that change the planning even when the furniture is the same
| Element | Apartment move | Villa move |
|---|---|---|
| Access | Shared corridors and stairs, sometimes a single lift | Entrances and internal floors, usually more space for loading |
| Key step before the move | Measuring doors, lift and stairs | Coordinating loading across many rooms and floors |
| What drives the time | Waiting for the lift, distance to the parking spot | Number of items and number of floors |
| Protection needed | Walls and tiles in the shared corridor | Marble and internal staircases |
If you are moving to a villa, see villa moving in Jeddah. For a workplace, office moving is the better fit.
What does your apartment size need?
We do not quote fixed prices here because every apartment is different, but this table shows what to watch for
| Apartment type | What to watch for | Best-fit services |
|---|---|---|
| Studio or one bedroom | Fewer items, but corridors can be narrow | Move with bed dismantling and basic wrapping |
| Two-bedroom apartment | More wardrobes and a second bedroom | Wardrobe and bed dismantling and assembly, with wrapping |
| Three to four bedrooms | A larger load that needs tighter loading and lift timing | A survey or photos of every room before planning |
| Large apartment or duplex | Internal stairs, many rooms and big pieces | On-site survey and a room-by-room plan |
If you are only moving bedrooms or adding large appliances, take a look at bedroom disassembly and installation first, to decide what you really need.
Floor and lift: when do you need extra preparation?
What changes an apartment move most is the route from the apartment door to the truck
| Situation | What usually happens | Your tip |
|---|---|---|
| Ground floor | Faster loading and a shorter route | Keep the entrance clear and the truck close |
| Upper floor with a lift | The lift timing and size must be coordinated | Ask the building about move hours and lift booking |
| Upper floor, no lift | Items go down the stairs carefully, and more may need dismantling | Tell us the floor number and stair width from the start |
| High floors, or pieces that will not fit the stairs | Lifting from outside may be needed | See winch and hydraulic lift moving and ask for a survey |
Coordinating with the building and neighbours
A few short steps that save time on moving day
In apartment buildings the crew works in shared corridors and often uses the same lift as residents, so a few minutes of coordination beforehand is worth it.
- Tell the guard or building management the move date and the expected loading time.
- Ask whether the lift needs booking or has set hours for moving furniture.
- Keep the building entrance and parking spot as close to the door as you can.
- Let neighbours know if the corridor or stairs will be busy for a while.
- If the flat is rented, photograph the walls and floors before leaving and after.
If you only have a few items, such as a bedroom or a fridge and washing machine, there is no need to book a full apartment move. Tell us what you want to move and we will suggest the right option.

Common mistakes when moving apartments
Small errors that cause delays or scratches
- Not measuring doors and the lift: one piece that will not fit can change the whole plan on the day.
- Leaving wardrobes full: extra weight strains the frame and raises the risk of breakage.
- Asking the building too late: some buildings set move hours or require lift booking.
- Mixing fragile items with the rest: keep glass and delicate items in their own boxes.
- Losing small fittings: missing screws and keys delay reassembly.
- Picking a rigid time slot: traffic at some hours makes trips across Jeddah longer.
What sets the price of an apartment move?
Factors that repeat in almost every case
- Number of rooms and amount of furniture: more items mean more effort and time.
- Floor and lift: stairs take more effort than a lift.
- Distance between addresses: a move within a neighbourhood is not the same as crossing the city.
- Dismantling and assembly: bedrooms and large wardrobes take extra time.
- Wrapping: basic protection is available, and delicate pieces may need stronger protection.
- Heavy or special items: large fridges, safes and oversized sofas.

Apartment moving in Jeddah: frequently asked questions
How long does an apartment move take?
It depends on the number of rooms, the floor, whether there is a lift, and how much dismantling and wrapping is needed. A small apartment may take part of a day, while a large one or a duplex can take a full day. We give an estimate after a survey or after seeing your photos.
Do I need to dismantle my furniture before the move?
No. The crew can dismantle beds and large wardrobes and assemble them again in the new apartment. It helps if you empty wardrobes and set aside small items and clothes before we arrive.
Can you move furniture from an apartment with no lift?
Yes, but please tell us the floor number and the stair width in advance so we can plan how to bring things down. Some pieces may need extra dismantling.
Is wrapping free?
We provide basic wrapping for key pieces and appliances at no charge, and stronger protection options are available for delicate or high-end pieces when needed.
How do I find out the price for my apartment?
We do a free survey, or you can send photos of the rooms on WhatsApp with the floor, the lift situation, and the pickup and drop-off addresses. We set the price once we know the details.
Do I need the building’s permission to move?
Rules differ from one building to another. It is best to ask management or the landlord about move hours and lift use before you confirm the date.
Do you move apartments between neighbourhoods in Jeddah?
Yes, we move within Jeddah between neighbourhoods. See our pages for areas such as Al Safa, Al Rawdah and Al Hamdaniyah.
